Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the plot but keeping fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser shows Bonnie β who received Andy's toys when he grew up β receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
